Hey! My name is Lauren. I have lived in Pittsburgh (almost) my entire life and currently reside in the South Hills. My interest in photography started in my early teens and in college, I finally got my first professional camera; my Nikon D5500. I loved every image I was able to capture and it quickly became more than amateur photography. To me, photography is not simply a still portrait of life from a moment in time, but rather a work of art that is meant to inspire, evoke emotion, and make life a little brighter. My “Illustrations” are simply a small glimpse into everyday life, capturing all the joys and triumphs, so that you may cherish that moment forever.
Freelance photography has always been a dream of mine so I’m not sure why it took me so long to finally turn it into something more than a hobby; but I finally have this beautiful website to take it beyond that. My husband and I work traditional 9-5 careers in different industries, working from home with our two very cute Holland Lops Bunnies; Autumn and Frost. Day to day I work for a custom home builder in Pittsburgh and absolutely love what I do! However, I have been inspired by so many people in my life who either are photographers or take photos as a hobby. More times than not there is a story behind each of their photos and you can even pick up on their personality from their images. It is such an intimate way to experience life and know that you have something physical to hold onto a moment in time forever. There are so many different art forms in photography and no two photos are ever the same. (Well maybe if the shutter speed is high enough, but that’s as close as you’re going to get.) I love how much emotion you can feel from looking at an image. As my generation would say “core memory unlocked."
When you choose me as your photographer I will urge you to be present in that moment. The beauty that can be found when you stop and are just present, free of all distractions, even if just for a few moments is outstanding. Let the colors sink in and the crispness and complexity of what is before you. Take a deep breath and I promise you will feel so at peace and like you never want this moment to end... Being able to capture that essence is my favorite part of being a photographer. Capturing pure joy, even if just for a second, is why I love what I do.
I took on the task many years ago of converting all of our family photos to a digital format so that if anything ever happened to the physical copy the moment in those photos will never be lost. To me photos are one of the most important things we have in this world. They are a permanent reminder of who we are and what we’ve done/accomplished/experienced/enjoyed… they are the storybook of our life; and who wants to read a story that doesn’t have any images.
